Why watercolor?

Watercolor is fascinating and frustrating all at once. I find it meditative and soothing to watch the swirling pools of color take shape. It takes patience and planning, confidence, and trust! Building transparent layers with no white paint and using only the negative space of the paper is the exact inverse of how to approach painting with oil or acrylic. It’s a more affordable and mobile material than carrying large canvases or waiting months for them to dry, meaning I can easily paint while I travel or set up at a campsite for a weekend. If you’re looking to try it out as a hobby, I suggest investing in the highest quality materials you can afford. Thick, cotton watercolor paper and highly pigmented colors will offer a much more pleasant painting experience than ‘beginner’ materials. My favorite paints are from Greenleaf & Blueberry and I typically use Arches paper blocks.

Do you use other mediums?

Yes! I love using all types of materials, from using food as art in my cooking to creating digital designs. I’ve painted interior and exterior murals, created sculptures from foam and clay, and if you can dream it, I can try to make it! Contact me if you have an idea for a project.

What’s your most popular product?

Uplift Mobiles are made with flat illustrations that are beautiful and frame-able as a keepsake art piece.

Flat illustrations appear and disappear in space to mesmerize infants and relax adults. Light-reflecting backs capture light and sparkle.

Best of all, frame-able Illustrations make an easy transition from baby to toddler’s space, or big kid room/play space. Simply snip ribbons and frame watercolor illustrations (use a piece of double-stick tape to mount) for a wall of 8-12 illustrations.

Are they baby-proof?

No! My products are for decoration, and should be hung safely away from little ones.

Mobiles are meant to be hung for decoration, not play.

They are handmade with paper and knots, & will not hold up to tiny hands tugging at them.

Mobiles should be distanced from a crib by at least 24” to ensure baby's safety and the mobile's longevity.

They make a perfect baby shower gift, nursery addition, or play space decoration.

How do commissions work?

Custom orders are my favorite! Send me your ideas, and I'll send them back in beautiful watercolor.

What other materials do you use?

For my handmade products, I use archival watercolor textured paper, glittered and textured specialty papers, and other handmade supplies. I have wooden hoops from a maker in Bulgaria and felted pom-poms. I use a Cricut machine to cut illustrations for papercut art. My favorite adhesive is Zip Dry, which dries quickly and keeps layers completely flat.
